Rise of the Post Flood Gods

After the flood the worship of the pre-flood Nephilim continued. When the people of Babel were scattered the notoriety of the pre-flood hybrids rose. The stories of the old gods and the men of renown from the old world were shared within the post-flood cultures of the Mesopotamia. The notoriety of these gods grew as their legends were spread across the land in various forms.

Nearly every ancient culture on earth has had a fabled mixture of man and animal god at some time. Nearly every culture also has a legend of women mating with the gods creating god-like children. The Greeks continued the tales; they were well versed in creating legends of gods and goddesses. They were quite the story-tellers, completely enamored with their deities.

One of the oldest and most recognized of these creatures can be seen in Egypt with the Sphinx. The age of the Sphinx is estimated at 4,500 years old. The Sphinx has the head of a man in a royal headdress and the body of a lion. It is believed to been sculpted from limestone 2600-2500 BC in the 4th dynasty of the Pharaohs though it has been theorized that the Sphinx may be much older, a symbol that existed in the pre-flood world.

Though there are many more than the ones I list below, these few will provide an example of how the pre-flood creatures were worshiped in the new world and the stories surrounding them.

Anunnaki – the fallen ones, 𒀭𒀀𒉣𒈾 often called the shining ones. These deities are from the ancient Sumerian, Akkadian and Babylonian cultures and are believed to be a likeness of An or Anu, the sky god. The Anunnaki are very interesting. These are believed to be fallen angels, gods of the underworld who took up residency in Sumer to rule over the ancient city. They are believed to have set up their thrones in the underworld but also travel throughout the ruins of the ancient ziggurats in the Mesopotamia.

They are seven in number and as legend has it they were to have possessed profound and special knowledge beyond human comprehension. Also per legend, they claimed that their dwelling places had been destroyed because of the great flood. Their profound knowledge and claim of an ancient settlement upon the earth pre-flood give rise to the fallen angel theory.

During their stay at Sumer they lived atop of the ziggurats that were built to house the gods and goddesses that dwelt in the Mesopotamia. They are said to have introduced the zodiac and taught the meaning behind what is called the seven levels of human intelligence.  While many appeared in human form, several others had lizard or snake shaped faces and the talons of birds for feet. The Anunnaki gave up their shining nature to live with man on earth – another indication of a reference to the fallen angels.

Anunnaki: 2017 documentary directed by Philip Gardiner: A review of scientific research that looks back on mankind’s ancestors, who are said to have descended from a heavenly realm to create human beings.

Apkallu- Considered as protective spirits, the Apkallu were seven demi gods in Sumerian culture’s that were part man and part fish. The legend of the Apkallu is that these demi gods had the torso’s and faces of men and the hips and fins of a fish as feet, similar to a merman. They were shapeshifters and could change appearance quickly when needed. In some stone carvings, the Apkallu are depicted as men wearing fish capes. In other depictions, the Apkallu were part bird of prey with a feathered mane, wings and either fish finned or human feet. They carried small purses or pails, and wore either bracelets or a miniature sundial around their wrist.

Winged Apkallu were etched in bas relief onto the outer walls of temples for protection. Some etchings show the importance of the pine cone or pineal gland as it is clutched between the fingers generally in the right hand like a prized possession.

The legend behind these figures were that they survived the flood and were sent from the sea by the god Enki (Ea) in order to help mankind build settlements. The Apkallu taught writing and communication skills so information would be preserved and passed on.

The seven gods represent wisdom and are often referred to as the wise ones or the educated scholars. The Apkallu are mentioned in the Epic of Gilgamesh as sky gods come to earth to instruct humans on the building of civilizations. They lived long enough to help the Greeks build a culturally enriched empire before they vanished. They also appeared as sky-builders, moving and erecting great structures in order to help man build great empires.

They were later banished back to the water by Marduk, the god of Babylon.

The accounts of the Apkallu are similar to the Anunnaki.

The Lizard people.

During an archeological dig in Eridu, Lizard Man figurines were found. These are dated as being from the Ubaid Period, 4000 BC. Below is a figurine of a lizard headed fertility goddess of UR, Sumer, holding / nursing a reptilian baby in arms. This figurine is kept in the Iraq Museum. These are certainly strange little reptilian creatures without much of a history attached. They may have been toys carved for the Sumerian youth or some sort of reptilian creature that were worshiped as idols. Of course the UFO theorists will suggest that these reptilian creatures were interstellar space travelers.

Several of these lizard headed figurines were found in archeological dig sites in the Sumerian areas of UR, Tell Al ‘Ubaid and Eridu. Most of the figurines depict males but this reptilian female or, serpent Goddess is interesting. She seems to be sporting a curly hair-do that many suggest is a helmet and wears shoulder padded outfit that may suggest a space suit. She nurses a baby at her breast.

The baby has the same reptilian features as the mother.

They are similar to the Anunnaki in appearance with the oval lizard or snake shaped faces. There isn’t a whole lot written about these but I found an article on Ancient Origins that is interesting.

These strange figurines have begun a new terminology of the lizard people who work behind the leaders of the world. I believe this is said in jest, but I am not entirely sure.

When you read comments on social media of lizard people, this is what those comments are referring to. The reptilian entity is seemingly present behind the facade of those who claim to be progressively saving the planet. These are the demons that control those who are actively destroying mankind to preserve the earth to save a chosen few. Lizard people is also used in reference to the bloodline of the Nephilim, fallen angels and ancient bloodlines of Satanist who would like to eliminate humankind in submission to their dark lord.

Satyrs were similar to the Centaurs of Greek mythology, part man and part horse. The satyrs are mentioned in Isaiah 13:20. The interesting part of this passage is that Satyrs were a throwback of ancient Mycenaean mythology, a mixture of an entity that was part man and part goat.

The Satyrs had the frontal feature of a man with a goat’s rump, legs, tail and ears. Some were equipped with horns representing power and prestige. They roamed the forests and hills and liked to drink alcoholic beverages. They lived as lustful, intoxicated merry woodland gods spreading the seeds of mischievous drunken revelry amongst men. The character of the Satyrs is similar to the Greek god Pan, the lusty roaming flute playing deity with a very dark side while the body is similar to the Centaur exchanging the horse of the Centaur with a goat.

Pan – was another form of the half goat, half man of Greek mythology. Pan was a flute playing god who enjoyed frolicking with the woodland nymphs. Pan was so popular that he had several temples built for him. Several of his temples were located on the foothills of Mt. Hermon at Caesarea Philippi. Caesarea Philippi is the location of the gate to hell

He was a musical god of shepherds and flocks having the legs and horns of a goat and the upper body of a man. He was extremely sexual and wandered throughout the forests enchanting the female nymphs with his flute. He was associated with fertility due to his sexual prowess.

Pazuzu, The king of demons  -- Pazuzu was highly venerated among the Assyrian, Babylonian and Sumerian cultures as he was a protector demon that kept other demons away. He was crafted into little bronze idols or fashioned into pieces of jewelry.

He was a wind spirit, free to come and go as he pleased. He was also the demon of exorcism who would assist the high priestess or priest when summoned. He helped to rid the community of 'malcontent' demons who plagued the citizens with illness. Pazuzu's main role was to protect new born babies from the child stealing demon named Lamashtu. Lamashtu was greatly feared as she stole children by carrying them off into the night. She was especially fond of newborns, drinking the blood and devouring the flesh.

Pazuzu had the staring role in the 1973 movie The Exorcist as the demon who was unintentionally summoned by way of a talking board or Ouija board. He possessed twelve year old Reagan MacNeil, played by Linda Blair.

Pazuzu is making a comeback as he is easy to summon. You can now purchase little idols or amulets on sites such as Etsy or Amazon.

Siren – The siren was the product of Greek and Roman mythology. In some versions she is half bird - half woman, while in others she is the mermaid, half fish, half woman, who lures sailors to their death by singing sweet hypnotic songs during perilous storms. The Sirens' song was so beautiful that it put sailors into a trance lulling them into a deep sleep crashing their ships into the rocks. The sailors would often jump overboard in an attempt to find the ones that were singing those mesmerizing songs and drown. In most legends, the men were tasty treats for the Siren's to feast on.

Dagon – Dagon, a fish god of the Philistines and Ninevites is mentioned in the Bible. He was a popular god making his rounds throughout the Mesopotamia but his temples were built along the sea. His name appears in the Code of Hammurabi as a protector god. Dagon, like most gods of the Mesopotamia was a nature god and a fertility god. Dagon was half man, half fish and the father of Ba’al as per legend.

In 1 Samuel 5, the Israelites had just lost a battle to the Philistines and the Ark of the Covenant had been captured. It was taken to Ashdod where it was placed in the House of Dagon, the god of the Philistines. Dagon was also the god of the Ninevites, so when Jonah was spit out by a fish and called Nineveh to repentance, they did so. He was spit from the mouth of a giant fish. Surely he was some sort of god? :)

When the citizens of Ashdod had risen early the next morning they found that their fish god had fallen on his face before the Ark of the Covenant as in worship. So, they took Dagon and set him up again.

The next morning they rose early and went to the temple of Dagon to worship. There again was Dagon, face down on the floor before the Ark of the Covenant. He had fallen before the Ark with such force his head and hands were detached from its body, leaving only a stump.

J.D. Farag gave an excellent sermon on 1 Samuel 5 eleven years ago (2013) and I always remembered Dagon in part, from this sermon. J.D. has a special way of bringing the Old Testament to life! <3 Old Testament sermons can be found on the website: jdfarag.org

To learn more about the history of the Mesopotamian gods and goddesses the Pennsylvania State University has a good Mesopotamia education site dedicated to history and various ancient deities.
